Eligible applicants must articulate a strategic vision to deploy General Operating Support (GOS) grants that makes sense for their particular situation, challenges, and opportunities. Latinx theaters must submit a questionnaire addressing the eligibility criteria established by the national Steering Committee. The eligibility questionnaire will be broadly distributed to the Latinx theater field. Those theaters that meet the criteria, will be invited to submit a full proposal. This will be a competitive application process (see Peer-Review Process heading).
The proposed grant budget would correlate to each theater’s proposed strategies. Therefore, the re-granting program would allow each applicant to determine the strategies and processes that best address its organizational and artistic needs and priorities.
The program guidelines would prioritize providing funding support for artistic and administrative staff compensation. Other allowable expenses would include, but not be limited to:
To benefit artists: joint commissions, artistic program production and development, creation of touring opportunities, promoting participation at national/international festivals, and professional/personal development.
To benefit organizations: succession planning, archival needs, IT needs, capital improvements, marketing, social media planning and strategies, establishing or expanding cash reserves, and other organizational needs.
Participation in the re-granting program will also include annual convenings, networking opportunities, access to Nonprofit Finance Fund consultations, increased national visibility, and co-commissioning and co- production opportunities nationally. Additionally, if NLTI’s fundraising efforts are successful, program-specific funds for an archival project that documents the Latinx theater movement and the theaters that have received funding support from LTI, and succession planning will bepossible. Succession planning is already included in possible support—see above.
