The National Latinx Theater Initiative (NLTI) is a distinct program of the Los Angeles-based Latino Theater Company (LTCo). The LTCo serves as a champion for its artistic ensemble, staff, and community, and for the Latinx theater sector writ large.
Inspired by The Black Seed, a first-ever national strategic plan unprecedentedly conceptualized and led by the Black theater field to create impact and thrivability for Black theater institutions, the National Latinx Theater Initiative was designed in 2022 and will launch in early 2023.

MISSION
The Latino Theater Company's mission at The Los Angeles Theatre Center is to provide a world-class arts center for those pursuing artistic excellence; a laboratory where both tradition and innovation are honored and honed; a place where the convergence of people, cultures, and ideas contribute to the future.
HISTORY
The award-winning Latino Theater Company at the Los Angeles Theatre Center was founded in 1985 with the vision to contribute new stories to the American theater repertoire and increase opportunities in theater for underserved communities. As the nation’s largest theater company serving Latinx audiences, we produce work by local playwrights and highlight new voices within the Latinx, First Nation, Black, Asian American, Jewish American, MENA, and LGBTQ+ communities.
In 2007, the Latino Theater Company reopened the Los Angeles Theatre Center, a historic landmark and five theater performing arts complex in the revitalized Historic Core District located in Downtown Los Angeles. Our world-class arts venue has 80,000 square feet of performance, office, and gallery space where we have produced 156 plays that reflect the diversity of the City of Los Angeles, created 4,145 jobs and helped 1,080 nonprofit organizations.
Over its more than 35-year history, the Latino Theater Company has developed and honed its own theatrical style to create plays that reflect the U.S. Latinx experience and speak to the Latinx community, as well as presenting work that reflects the demographics of Los Angeles.
